Chamaecyparis obtusa ‘Ellie B.’

The miniature Chamaecyparis obtusa ‘Ellie B.’ is filled with tightly congested clusters of dense, dark green foliage that take on distinctive bronze hued tones in winter, making it a tasty garden treat accented with cinnamon brown stems. Similar to C. o. ‘Nana’ but with a more upright habit and a slightly smaller scale, the outstanding performance and very slow growth of ‘Ellie B.’ make it a desirable addition to rock garden, trough or container plantings. This seedling selection was raised by Joel Spingarn of Baldwin, Long Island, New York.
