Cupressocyparis (Leyland Cypress)
The genus Cupressocyparis, commonly known as Leyland cypress, is a hybrid of Chamaecyparis nootkatensis (Alaskan weeping cedar) and Cupressus (cypress) species. While its taxonomic classification may be a bit convoluted, their use in the landscape is certainly not. Often planted for creating privacy screens or with the versatility to be used as a focal specimen, Cupressocyparis are vigorous growers with bright and bold foliage.
