Podocarpus (Plum Pine)
The genus Podocarpus (Plum Pine) traces its origins to mountain forests in warm, temperate regions. Known to be excellent woody shrubs, Podocarpus plants are very useful in dry parts of the garden in full sun or part shade, where they demonstrate good drought tolerance. We offer unusual dwarf, spreading cultivars, chosen for unique colors and, in one case, extended hardiness. These naturally occurring hybrids have wide flat needles that respond well to pruning and will grow slowly into neat, low mounded shrubs.
