Downy Willow
Salix lapponum is well named with the cloak of silvery hairs that cover all parts of the plant in summer. A deciduous, low-branched shrub that grows 3-5’ tall and wide, it’s an excellent companion plant with conifer plantings. Native to northern Europe, it is very hardy. Thrives in wet areas and favors sites near flowing water.
