Dwarf Purple Beech
Fagus sylvatica ‘Purpurea Nana’ is a very dense and full compact grower. Intense purple leaves cloak the plant through spring and summer. Copper tones in autumn give way to winter exposure of the smooth, gray bark, typical of the species. An oval form, it is well suited for the smaller garden that can’t accommodate larger European Beech forms. Avoid climates with extreme heat and plant in moist, well-drained soil.
